Family Owned & Operated Hospice and In-Home Care.

About Us:

At Blue Bonnet Palliative Care, we believe hospice isn’t just about medical support, it’s about walking alongside families with compassion, clarity, and a personal touch.

Founded by Colleen and Scott Ritter in 2011, our family-run hospice was built on a simple idea: that end-of-life care should feel human, not corporate. Based in the heart of Wimberley, we provide personalized, experienced care for patients and their families during life’s most tender moments.

Our Story:

For over 25 years, Colleen Ritter has served as a hospice nurse, offering comfort and care to patients and their loved ones. After spending years working with large organizations, she saw the need for something more personal; a way to serve her community with empathy, dignity, and the warmth of small-town values.

In 2011, Colleen and her husband Scott launched Blue Bonnet Palliative Care to do just that. What started with one nurse and one vision has grown into a trusted local team that is still family-owned and deeply rooted in Wimberley.

Alongside their children and a close-knit staff, the Ritters have created a hospice that feels like home. Every member of our team shares the same commitment: to make sure patients and families feel seen, supported, and genuinely cared for.

How we help

Step #1.

Call and Schedule a Family Meeting.

First and foremost, we listen. A member of our staff is available 24/7, ensuring immediate assistance without the interference of an answering service. We want to hear from you and pair you with the right resources, whether that includes our services or not.

Step #2.

Family Meeting.

We will meet with you in person or over the phone to discuss your family’s needs. Then, we will assess and craft a personalized care plan. Patient wishes are paramount, and we honor them with unwavering respect. Limiting our census ensures that each patient receives the personal attention they deserve.

Step #3

Begin Care.

Based on the personalized care plan, care can start right away. Our dedicated team includes:

  • Supervision by a Medical Director

  • Director of Nursing with 30+ years of hospice experience that you will have direct access to.

  • Registered Nurse Care Managers.

  • Guidance and emotional support from our Social Workers.

  • Spiritual Counseling and support from our Chaplains.

  • Certified nurse aides providing attentive hygiene care

  • Respite care to provide relief for caregivers.

  • Access to essential Medical Equipment, supplies, and medications.
